Here's a quick sketch I did for a Ubuntu wall paper. The new OS is called "Karmic Koala" I wanted to make it a layer and add a flashy computer generated wall paper to it.....but am having trouble with GIMP.
I made the picture up using a few reference fotos (to avoid licencing issues). Did it on A3 sketch paper with wooden H & HB & 2B pencils.
I'm part of the art community & get all the e-mails. But my ability digitally is low...I only went to Ubuntu last month & have started playing with GIMP (I love it).
I have the ideas but translating them digitally is frustrating. I have to learn Gimp in-depth. I might have to make the wall papers on paper & get a talented person to convert them!
A great wallpaper mockup is still a wonderful thing to have If you can scan in a good quality/resolution (i think the requirement for wallpapers is 2600x1560), i'm sure some talented GIMP users may be interested in colorizing them.
I'm myself, I must say, a total noob with the GIMP And although artwork is a passion, I just don't have the time to learn about GIMP either
Anyways, I hope to see you post that Koala to our mailing list !
I was just doing the rough layout last night in pastels. I'll photograph it as its A3 in size. I'll have to include the thinking behind it to explain the symbolism too.
